Community Involvement

In May 2014, Mental Health & Recovery Services Board representing Guernsey County, passed a new 1 mil, 10-year levy with 59.2% voting yes. Guernsey Health Choices is proud to be a contract provider of the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board. This collaboration and teaming with the Board, allows GHC to access Mental Health and Addiction Levy Dollars. Funds are available to contract agencies with the board to serve Guernsey County residents for many different services. This support allows for all persons, regardless of their ability to pay, to receive needed services. Guernsey Health Choices utilizes funding for prevention and education services to all ages. Programming and focus have been on needed educational and supportive services for youth as well as our Senior population at no charge to those being served. GHC’s current community involvement with support from the levy includes:

  • BE AWARE – Collaboration with several community agencies to provide visual education to parents, educators, and home help workers. Education regarding drug use, including warning signs hidden in plain sight.
  • WISE (Wellness Initiative for Senior Education) – Made available to local seniors, aiming to help increase their knowledge and awareness of issues related to health and the aging process.
  • CLEAN START – An interagency collaboration group of organizations and agencies, who offer help and services to pregnant women. One of the chief focuses of the group is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women, infants, and children, to offer education, treatment and most importantly HOPE!
  • Checking & Chatting – Through phone conversations, our Checking & Chatting Program is reaching out and connecting with the Senior Adult population, to help combat isolation and provide positive support.
  • Family & Friends Support Group – Support and education for loved ones of those battling addiction.
