The Guernsey Recovery Response Team continues efforts to respond to reported overdoses in the community.
The Guernsey Recovery Response Team meets weekly attempting to address the needs of those individuals who have recently experienced a survivable overdose and were given Naloxone.
The purpose of the team is to let individuals suffering from addiction know there are forms of support available locally and that the community and law enforcement are invested in helping them get connected to treatment.
The Guernsey Recovery Response Team began in May 2018 and made 77 visits through December 2018; 61 visits from during 2019, and 70 visits from January 2020 to present.
The Guernsey Recovery Response Team currently includes sheriff’s Major Jeremy Wilkinson, Guernsey Health Choices Executive Director Karen Wiggins and Guernsey Health Choices Case Manager Erika Cameron.
The team works in collaboration with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board serving Coshocton, Guernsey, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble and Perry counties for funding.
The team recently observed International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31.
